The first bloom opened today in the garden located off of Lorah Lane at the Hotchkiss K8!
A sweet pea – purple.
All of the beds are planted and now we water and wait.
The garden was planned and planted primarily for experiential lessons for the students enrolled at HK8. But flowers will be blooming and vegetables ripening while the students are still out on summer break. Our volunteer team has planned to sell at the Saturday Market in Hotchkiss, with a few other ideas, too!
We are looking for interested community members to get involved with our project. All are invited; kids, adults, seniors – maybe even a responsible pet! Bring ideas, experience from past projects, art or design skills, gloved hands for weeding and watering, seeds or starts to donate.
A big thanks to all who have been involved so far;
Fran Stein, Sarah Marshall, Thistle Whistle Farm, Zephyros Farm and Garden, Johnnie Keenan Designs, HK8 3rd graders, 6th graders, Life Skills classes, Paonia Soil, Todd Lumber.
